Builder: Revent Builds

Our clients wanted their kitchen to not only be functional but also a place where they could entertain guests without feeling isolated. We answered that challenge by completely transforming the small, dark and dysfunctional space into an open oasis with unique industrial-leaning design elements.

At its heart was a 30ft long steel I-beam which bore the weight of the second story above while providing visual separation between spaces in bold fashion. The look is completed by concrete overlay floors stained in custom colors, white cabinetry contrasting with a navy island backed up two full slabs of quartz countertops – all topped off with brass hardware accents for added contrast! A 48in freestanding Thermador range and wine refrigerator complete this foodie paradise designed for hosting friends and family alike.

This project won awards in The National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s Contractor of the Year Awards for Residential Kitchen over $100k locally, regionally, and first place nationally.

Kitchen Remodel

Austin, Texas

The original narrow galley kitchen was small, dark, and dysfunctional. As entertainers and huge foodies, our clients felt isolated from guests in the living room when they were preparing food in the kitchen.

To create an open, beautiful, and functional space, it was a must that the wall dividing the kitchen and living room be removed. The complication here was that this was a 30ft long wall bearing the weight of the second story and roof above. This called for a 30ft long by 14in tall steel I-beam to support the load above. This beam provided a visual separation between the kitchen and living spaces and became a focal point to our industrial-leaning design.

In keeping with the industrial theme, we applied a smooth overlay and custom stain to the concrete slab. Custom white cabinetry on the perimeter contrasts with the 14-foot navy kitchen island and provides ample serving and workspace. There are white quartz countertops with pronounced gray veining throughout. The island was so large it called for two full slabs. The navy hex backsplash from Fireclay Tile ties in the navy island. Full Thermador appliance package: 48in freestanding range, 42in fridge/ freezer alongside an 18in full-height wine refrigerator. Brass hardware adds contrast for a final touch.
